GLADIATORS AND MACHINES OF MALAYSIA CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES 2023 ALL SET FOR FINAL SHOWDOWN

Sunday, 24 September 2023 - Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is set for a showdown this 22- 24 September when the gladiators and machines of the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) write the final chapter of the 2023 season.

The race for the 2023 Championship still remains wide open with at least 4 teams vying for first place in every category.

Round 3 held on 27 August 2023 produced an endearing moment when Bangladesh pro-racer Avik Anwar of team R Engineering clinched P1 in Race 2 of the T-Production class and dedicated the win to his late father Md Anwar Hossain who passed away just a few weeks before the race.

Another event taking place this weekend is Asia’s biggest GT championship: Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS. Contested by GT3 and GT4 spec cars, the six-round series concludes at Sepang where four drivers remain in overall title contention. They include twotime race winner Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim from the Johor Royal Family whose brother Prince Jefri Ibrahim also competes for Triple Eight JMR (Johor Motorsports Racing).

Additional support races are the Asia Classic Car Challenge, the premier Asian classic car race series in its 19th year of running, and the Caterham Championship which is a one-make series featuring the iconic Caterham Seven.

For Round 4, Free Practice and Qualifying sessions will take place on Friday, 22 September. Race 1 is scheduled on Saturday, 23 September by Race 2 on Sunday, 24 September.

Fans of MCS can catch all the thrilling action at SIC with free entry to the Main Grandstand or watch live streaming via the SIC Facebook page and Youtube channel.

Azhan Shafriman Hanif, CEO of Sepang International Circuit: “Sepang International Circuit (SIC) envisioned and expected plenty of amazing stories to develop on and off the track. In all honesty, the hard-fought victories and top-notch motor-racing we have witnessed in the past 3 races of the season have even exceeded our expectations, and the best is yet to come as we go into the final round. Kudos to the racers and teams, as well as everyone involved, for making this season a success.”
